NERALLT is a regional affiliate of IALLT, the International Association for Language Learning Technology. Our members are educators, administrators and technical support staff of spaces or initiatives in which technology enhances the teaching and learning of languages, literatures and cultures.

Although we serve the greater New England region, anyone is welcome to join this site and our organization.

July 2-10, 2015 Online Members’ Meeting

Note: NERALLT Members' Survey deadline extended to August 7, 2015!

Dear Members and Friends of NERALLT:

It has been a tradition for us to meet in one way or another twice a year. For a long time we held one conference in the fall in the western reaches of our territory and another in spring--usually in the Boston area. Over the years, this became increasingly difficult to organize and expensive to fund. We decided to replace the spring meeting with a series of webinars and hold a members’ meeting online. The webinars were well received but attendees of the members’ meeting were mostly board members. To better connect with members, the current board is trying something new again: a week-long asynchronous “meeting” on our website with a link to a survey to gauge needs and satisfaction of our audience.  We hope you take a few moments to enjoy the pictures from last year’s conference at the end!

Welcome to our first website members’ meeting and thank you in advance for reading the updates and especially for responding to our survey in a link below.

In case you missed the election results, here are the board members who took office June 15th:

Thursday & Friday, October 22 & 23rd Fall Conference at University of New Hampshire, Durham

  • Conference Theme: Transforming Language Learning
  • Thursday afternoon: A UNH faculty panel on OER (Open Educational Resources), lightning round/discussions, wine & cheese & tour
  • Friday: Keynote address, “Enhancing Teaching and Learning with Mobility”; a hands-on workshop;  presentations; poster sessions including a networking table; and a tour of the language resource center
  • Presenters are from Brown University,  MIT, Mount Holyoke College,Yale University, Saint Anselm College, United States Coast Guard Academy, the University of New Hampshire and more. 

New for Spring 2016!! A one-day “Unconference” proposed for the Boston Area: An unconference is one that enables participants to propose discussion topics (rather than presentations) on the issues that are important to their teaching practice and share ideas and strategies with other education professionals. The unconference format empowers participants to craft the program,  provides opportunities for them to become session leaders, and invites all to share their expertise. Participants, rather than event organizers, determine the topics covered in session tracks” (http://www.unh.edu/fitsi/sessions/2014). During the NERALLT unconference, participants will be given some time before the opening address to propose a discussion topic and write it down on a post-it.  Each topic will be collected by an unconference leader, who will be in charge of sorting out the topics and organizing the schedule for the unconference.  The number of sessions and topics will depend on the number of participants. 

Survey: Speak up! Let us know what we are doing well and what you would like us to explore. We are a non-profit, member-driven, volunteer organization and therefore rely on your participation and feedback. Please take a few minutes to do this.
